Seattle Sounders FC's Kasey Keller Wins Allstate Goalkeeper of the Year
 
NEW YORK(Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011) – Major League Soccer announced today that Seattle Sounders FC’s Kasey Keller was voted the 2011 Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. Keller played in every minute of every game for Sounders FC in 2011, and led the team to the second-best record in MLS this season.
 
The Olympia, Wash., native won a League-high 18 games this season and led all starting goalkeepers in MLS in saves percentage (76%) while posting a 1.09 goals against average, and recording nine shutouts.
 
Keller, 41, retired at the end of the season, ending his 20-year professional career on a high note with his hometown club. Seattle fans paid tribute to Keller when a record crowd of 64,140 attended his final regular season home game at CenturyLink Field.
 
In three seasons with Seattle, this is Keller’s first Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award, and follows his selections to the 2011 MLS All-Star First XI, and 2011 MLS Best XI. The award was voted on by players, club representatives, and media. The voting percentages by group for the top five candidates are below:
