New York Red Bulls Forward Thierry Henry Voted MLS Player of the Week
NEW YORK (Monday, October 1, 2012)– New York Red Bulls Forward Thierry Henry was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 30 of the 2012 MLS season. The honor is Henry’s fifth MLS Player of the Week award this season after earning the accolade in Weeks 2, 3, 5 and 28.
On Saturday Henry contributed three goals and one assist in New York’s 4-1 win over Toronto FC. The win boosted New York into second place in the Eastern Conference and placed them within reach of clinching a 2012 MLS Cup playoff spot this week.
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
