New York Red Bulls Forward Kenny Cooper Voted MLS Player of the Week

NEW YORK (October 29, 2012) – New York Red Bulls forward Kenny Cooper was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for final week of the 2012 MLS season.

Needing a win on Saturday to avoid the Eastern Conference Knockout Round, Kenny Cooper scored twice in the New York Red Bulls 3-0 victory over I-95 rival, Philadelphia Union. His first goal came off a penalty kick in the 13th minute after Tim Cahill was fouled inside the box.  Cooper recorded his second of the night when he finished a Dax McCarty pass midway through the second half.
The honor is Cooper’s first MLS Player of the Week award this season.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
