MLS Disciplinary Committee Suspends and Fines Philadelphia Union Defender Gabriel Farfan

NEW YORK (April 27, 2012) –The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Philadelphia Union defender Gabriel Farfan two additional games and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions in the 85th minute of the match played between Chivas USA and Philadelphia Union on Saturday, April 21st. Farfan received a red card and an automatic one-game suspension for his challenge on James Riley. The Committee determined the challenge was reckless and endangered Riley’s safety. Farfan will serve his suspension during Philadelphia’s next three League matches: April 28 vs. the San Jose Earthquakes,May 5 at the Seattle Sounders FC, and May 13 vs. the New York Red Bulls.

Fines collected will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S. and the MLS Players Union.
