Major League Soccer Kicks Off 2016 Retailer & Licensee Summit
 
Product Showcase Highlighted by New and Seasoned MLS Licensees
 
NEW YORK – (May 24, 2016) Major League Soccer’s 2016 Retailer & Licensee Summit commenced today in Chicago, gathering an impressive and diverse lineup of retailers and licensees. The summit, taking place at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel today through Thursday, May 26, includes product showcases from MLS licensees, including adidas, Wincraft, Fathead, Logo Brands, and more.
 
“The annual MLS Retailer & Licensee Summit is a great milestone to review our successes of the past year and get a peek into the future of consumer product offerings and opportunities,” said Maribeth Towers, Senior Vice President, Consumer Products. “This past year the League saw a significant increase in popularity, which in turn had a tremendous impact on fan gear, from both the sales and product range perspective. We’re excited to build on this momentum in 2016 and beyond and continue to provide our fans a variety of ways of expressing their MLS club loyalties.”
 
With a young and diverse fan base, MLS has worked to increase its product offering in recent years, providing gear that transcends the sport and organically fits into the daily lives of fans. Fans of all 20 MLS clubs, plus three upcoming expansion clubs, can now declare their favorite team and show their fandom.
 
For 2016, MLS’ 21st season, the League has already brought on six new licensees. They include Skinit, an industry leader in mobile device cases, offering multiple styles for multiple devices; Rock ‘Em Apparel, a lifestyle brand offering creative apparel that bring personality to fan gear; Strideline, a high-quality athletic crew sock brand; Mascot Factory, a personalized plush animal manufacturer; Rise Sport, a custom designer of luxury sunglasses and other wearable products; and Bulletin, a Canadian apparel company providing tees, fleece tops and bottoms.
