adiZero holds on to beat adiPower, 3-2
adiZero continued to make scoring look easy in their second game of the 2013 MLS Combine. Once again Kyle Bekker seemed to always have the ball at his feet as the talented midfielder scored the first of three goals for the adiZero squad. Not to be outdone, Stefano Pinho had an impressive second day for adiPower as he netted two goals in the second half to keep the game within reach. Down by one goal with 15 minutes left, adiPower pushed men forward to create some scoring opportunities, but adiZero held on for the victory, 3-2.
ZERO – Kyle Bekker (Emery Welshman) 12'
ZERO – Emery Welshman (Erik Hurtado) 20'
POWER – Stefano Pinho (Michael Bustamante) 52'
ZERO – Charlie Rugg (Ashton Bennett) 72'
POWER - Stefano Pinho (Jason Johnson) 75’
On his impression of the game
“I think it went alright today. I could have had cleaner passes and been stronger in the air, but I think our team put in a good overall performance.
On his thoughts on the game
“Any time you play, whether it be 3 v 3 or Sunday soccer, playing well gives you confidence. Overall I am happy today, but hopefully on Tuesday I will have my best performance”
Prime and adiPure tie, 0-0
In the second match of the day, both teams struggled to create opportunities leading to a scoreless draw. One of the best chances came in the 73rd minute when Devon Sandoval played a ball into the box for Deshorn Brown. Brown took the ball in full stride but was unable to convert the opportunity. Minutes later, Prime responded when Blake Smith broke down the left side and sent a low cross into the box. The ball fell to Brian Fekete who spoiled the opportunity, sending his shot over the cross bar. Finally, in the 83rd minute, Carlos Alvarez played a crafty through ball to Ryan Finley who was unable to create a scoring chance after being quickly closed down by Andrew Ribeiro. The final whistle blew with the tie even at zero.
On the backline’s performance
“I think we had some good organization in the back and that came from getting to know one another as soccer players a little bit better. We tried to work on keeping the defense in sync and I think we all did a really good job of that.”
On the team’s performance today compared to Friday
“I think we were much better. Before, no one knew our style of play but today we figured it out a little more. I think I pushed myself hard today and put in a better performance that I did on Friday.”

Getting to Know…
Tommy Muller... Muller, Georgetown alumni, has a resume littered with accomplishments that transcend the soccer field. An Orland native, Tommy was the President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Georgetown in 2011 and 2012. The center back is also an accomplished, classically trained pianist.
Leston Paul... Paul’s trip to the 2013 MLS Players Combine is just another stop on a long list of places the Trinidad and Tobago native has played soccer. With T&T national teams Leston has played in South Korea, Nigeria and Mexico, to name a few. If he wasn’t pursuing a career in soccer Paul would be following a passion for Environmental Science. Recently, Leston spent time surveying forests in Trinidad. He studied the mud and sand of the region hoping to learn about the ecosystem’s history.
Brad Stuver... While many spend their time away from the pitch resting, it’s unclear if that word fits in to Brad Stuver’s vocabulary. The Ohio native is an avid biker, rock climber and all-around outdoorsman. On top of that, Stuver also finds time to volunteer with local charities. In 2012 Brad rallied his college team to participate in a local “Kick it for Cancer” event. The group umpired what he called “A high-stakes kickball match” between company teams from around the area.
